Part of the Keys Education family
I am extremely proud to introduce you to The Ryes College. Our school is dedicated to supporting and encouraging each child, as a unique individual, to achieve beyond their wildest dreams.
Our unique school provides a caring and nurturing environment where every child is supported to grow both in their knowledge and skills, but also in the way that they connect with others around them. Strong, stable and well-formed relationships are the keys to our success with pupils, with parents and carers and wider working relationships. By doing this – each and every child is given every possible opportunity to blossom.

At the Ryes College we believe in encouraging our Pupils to Achieve Beyond Their Dreams.
Our goals are to:
Located in a spacious and unique rural setting close to the Dedham Vale Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty on the Essex-Suffolk border, The Ryes College offers a safe haven for those who have faced challenges in their education, including pupils who have been excluded. Many of our students have experienced significant interruptions in their schooling. Our strong curriculum prioritises personal development, social interaction, and community building. We achieve this through a combination of personal development sessions, play, community activities, and a growing range of offsite experiences.
While we place a high emphasis on personal growth, we also strive for academic excellence. Our increasing outreach programme extends throughout Essex, and at the heart of our success are the close relationships we build with parents and carers. These partnerships are vital for successfully transitioning pupils back into mainstream education. As a result, The Ryes College has become a sought-after choice for parents seeking the right environment for their children.
Currently, The Ryes College accommodates 24 pupils aged 11 to 16. Our students come from diverse backgrounds and possess varying aspirations. Many have spent considerable time out of education, and we take immense pride in the progress they make and the contributions they bring to our school community.
We believe that we make a crucial difference for children who have struggled to cope in traditional educational settings. Our strong partnerships with local authorities position us as a preferred choice for their pupils. The Ryes College is particularly adept at re-engaging students with Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) challenges. Before enrolment, we conduct thorough assessments of each pupil's needs to develop tailored plans that facilitate their integration and enable them to thrive.
The Ryes College specialises in providing education and support for young people with:
SEMH
ASD and ADHD
Emotional Difficulties
The Ryes College is located in rural Suffolk catering for 36 pupils with small class sizes of 4-5 pupils.
Not only is the Ryes College positioned in a place of peace and tranquillity surrounded by forest and fields with ample opportunities for pupils to explore nature and be at peace, the school is also a hive of activity.

Mark H, ParentI can’t thank Keys enough for the care and support they’ve provided for my daughter. The staff are always attentive, and they genuinely listen to her needs. She has made amazing progress in both her education and personal growth, and I see a brighter future for her every day. Keys has truly changed our lives for the better.
We welcome referrals and enquiries from parents and local authorities. To discuss how Keys Education can support your child, please contact us using the form below or reach out to our admissions team directly.
Parents, carers, or local authorities can contact us to discuss the needs of the child.
We ask the person wishing to commission the placement (normally the Local Authority) sends over relevant information, such as, EHCP, previous school reports, professionals reports.
This allows us to conduct a thorough assessment to determine if we are the right provision to meet needs.
Once we feel needs can be met, we work closely with all parties to facilitate the placement process. If the Local Authority request the place, this is subject to funding being agreed at a panel meeting.
After admission, we provide continuous support to ensure the child settles in well and their needs are met.
