Part of the Keys Education family
I am delighted to welcome you to Snow Hill School. We are a small specialist provision dedicated to educating students with Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) needs who require more tailored support than is typically available in mainstream settings.
At Snow Hill School, we are fully committed to each of our students, offering personalised support designed to meet their unique needs and help them achieve their full potential. Many of our students arrive with negative experiences of the education system, often feeling rejected or disillusioned. Our mission is to transform their learning journey into a positive and empowering experience, fostering a renewed sense of hope and engagement in education.

Snow Hill School offers day placements for students aged 5-18 and is proudly registered with the Department for Education as an independent day school. Our campus is situated in a vibrant community just a stone's throw from Hanley Town Centre, providing excellent transport links and access to a variety of local specialist facilities.
The school spans four floors, featuring several spacious specialist classrooms and purpose-built support rooms designed to enhance the learning experience. We encourage all students to actively participate in creating classroom displays, fostering a sense of pride in their work and in the overall appearance of the school.
With extremely small class sizes, we provide a structured environment that facilitates individualized learning. Each student progresses through a broad, balanced, and differentiated curriculum tailored to their age, ability, and educational experiences.
Our programmes maintain a high staffing ratio, ensuring that each student receives a bespoke education tailored to their specific needs. These programmes are particularly suited for students with, or pending, Education and Health Care Plans, allowing us to target specific areas of difficulty and swiftly address any fundamental learning that may have been missed or not retained.
With the support of a teaching assistant for groups of up to five students, our learners engage in a timetable that includes Educational, Enrichment, and Adventurous Activities. Additionally, we provide access to a variety of local vocational courses offered by other providers, allowing students to complement their timetables and align with their aspirations.

Mark H, ParentI can’t thank Keys enough for the care and support they’ve provided for my daughter. The staff are always attentive, and they genuinely listen to her needs. She has made amazing progress in both her education and personal growth, and I see a brighter future for her every day. Keys has truly changed our lives for the better.
We welcome referrals and enquiries from parents and local authorities. To discuss how Keys Education can support your child, please contact us using the form below or reach out to our admissions team directly.
Parents, carers, or local authorities can contact us to discuss the needs of the child.
We ask the person wishing to commission the placement (normally the Local Authority) sends over relevant information, such as, EHCP, previous school reports, professionals reports.
This allows us to conduct a thorough assessment to determine if we are the right provision to meet needs.
Once we feel needs can be met, we work closely with all parties to facilitate the placement process. If the Local Authority request the place, this is subject to funding being agreed at a panel meeting.
After admission, we provide continuous support to ensure the child settles in well and their needs are met.
