Part of the Keys Education family
It is my pleasure to welcome you to Liverpool Progressive School. The school provides specialist education which supports the educational needs of boys and girls aged 8 – 19 with moderate to severe learning difficulties, complex needs and a range of associated social, emotional, interaction and sensory difficulties.
We are committed to each and every one of our pupils, providing specialist support tailored to each individual’s unique needs and helping all pupils to achieve their full potential. Young people often come to our school with negative perceptions of the education system, having experienced rejection, often repeatedly. We are dedicated to turning their experience of learning into a positive one.

The school is set up with four distinct areas; Oak for students with severe learning difficulties and ASD (many of whom are non-verbal). Elm for students with moderate learning and behavioural difficulties specifically, Down Syndrome, ADHD, ASD etc.
Acorn is for pupils who are in-between the Oak and Elm curriculum who can display more challenging behaviours and have associated learning needs including ASD and ADHD. Then, lastly, Beech for pupils who are working towards college transition and have more complex social and emotional difficulties linked to past trauma and their diagnosis.
Liverpool Progressive School specialises in providing education and support for young people with:
Social difficulties
Emotional difficulties
Mental Health difficulties
Autism
Our principles in making provision for children with special educational needs ensure that:
Each child is given a broad based and relevant curriculum.
The special needs of each child, as identified in their Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP) are addressed, with statutory EHCP Reviews being held regularly and completed in a thorough manner.
A behaviour management programme is in place and is continually reviewed. Staff training in the management of young people with Social, Emotional and Mental Health needs (SEMH) is ongoing.
A multi-agency team approach supports all pupils with Education Health Care Plans. Teachers, Tutors, Education Support Workers, Therapy Staff, Social Workers and other professionals are all involved with parents and carers in monitoring pupil progress using individual education and behaviour plans.
At Keys, our purpose is to make a lasting, positive impact on the lives we touch. Don’t just take our word for it—hear directly from those who have experienced our commitment to our EPIC values.
Mark H, ParentI can’t thank Keys enough for the care and support they’ve provided for my daughter. The staff are always attentive, and they genuinely listen to her needs. She has made amazing progress in both her education and personal growth, and I see a brighter future for her every day. Keys has truly changed our lives for the better.
We welcome referrals and enquiries from parents and local authorities. To discuss how Keys Education can support your child, please contact us using the form below or reach out to our admissions team directly.
Parents, carers, or local authorities can contact us to discuss the needs of the child.
We ask the person wishing to commission the placement (normally the Local Authority) sends over relevant information, such as, EHCP, previous school reports, professionals reports.
This allows us to conduct a thorough assessment to determine if we are the right provision to meet needs.
Once we feel needs can be met, we work closely with all parties to facilitate the placement process. If the Local Authority request the place, this is subject to funding being agreed at a panel meeting.
After admission, we provide continuous support to ensure the child settles in well and their needs are met.
