Part of the Keys Education family
It is my pleasure to welcome you to Castle Hill School, a small and specialised provision for pupils with Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) needs. We offer a tailored approach for children who require more focused intervention than is available in mainstream settings.
At Castle Hill, we are deeply committed to every pupil, providing personalised support that addresses each child's unique challenges. Our goal is to help every student reach their full potential, both academically and personally. Many of our pupils arrive with negative experiences of the education system, having faced rejection or disengagement in the past. We are dedicated to transforming their relationship with learning and creating a positive, supportive environment where they can thrive.
Headteacher
Castle Hill School is an independent special school that caters to pupils with Education, Health, and Care Plans (EHCPs), primarily those with social, emotional, and mental health needs. Our small class sizes, with a maximum of 5 pupils, allow us to provide a highly personalised and supportive learning environment.
Nurturing Holistic Development
At Castle Hill School, we believe in providing a well-rounded education that nurtures the intellectual, emotional, and social growth of every pupil. Our philosophy is rooted in the recognition that each child is unique, with their own strengths, talents, and learning needs. We strive to create an inclusive and supportive environment where pupils feel valued, respected, and inspired to reach their full potential.
Commitment to Excellence
Our dedicated team of educators is committed to delivering high-quality teaching and learning experiences that foster curiosity, critical thinking, and a lifelong love for learning. We believe in cultivating a growth mindset, encouraging pupils to embrace challenges and develop resilience. By promoting personal development and character education, we aim to empower our pupils to become confident, compassionate, and responsible individuals who make positive contributions to society.
High Expectations and Supportive Environment
At Castle Hill School, we have high expectations for our pupils, both academically and in terms of their behaviour and character. We believe in setting ambitious goals and providing the necessary support and guidance to help pupils achieve them. We expect our pupils to approach their studies with a positive attitude, demonstrating a strong work ethic and a willingness to take ownership of their learning. We encourage collaboration and active participation in the classroom, promoting a culture of teamwork and mutual respect.
Enriching Experiences
In addition to our academic curriculum, we offer a wide range of enrichment activities, including outdoor adventurous pursuits, that contribute to the holistic development of our pupils. These experiences help to build resilience, teamwork, and a sense of adventure, while also fostering a love for the natural world.
Commitment to OFSTED Standards

Mark H, ParentI can’t thank Keys enough for the care and support they’ve provided for my daughter. The staff are always attentive, and they genuinely listen to her needs. She has made amazing progress in both her education and personal growth, and I see a brighter future for her every day. Keys has truly changed our lives for the better.
We welcome referrals and enquiries from parents and local authorities. To discuss how Keys Education can support your child, please contact us using the form below or reach out to our admissions team directly.
Parents, carers, or local authorities can contact us to discuss the needs of the child.
We ask the person wishing to commission the placement (normally the Local Authority) sends over relevant information, such as, EHCP, previous school reports, professionals reports.
This allows us to conduct a thorough assessment to determine if we are the right provision to meet needs.
Once we feel needs can be met, we work closely with all parties to facilitate the placement process. If the Local Authority request the place, this is subject to funding being agreed at a panel meeting.
After admission, we provide continuous support to ensure the child settles in well and their needs are met.
