In June 2023, one of our residential homes was visited by the local commissioning team. At the time, the Manager had recently been appointed, and some changes had been made to the staff team. Following the visit, the commissioning team provided the new Manager with a set of actions and areas for improvement.
To support the Manager and the new team, a Quality Manager was allocated to work alongside them, supported by the Regional Manager. Together, they provided essential guidance and feedback, focusing on the following key areas:
The Quality Manager continued to visit the service regularly, offering ongoing support and guidance. During subsequent visits, they were able to provide positive feedback to the Manager, highlighting the improvements they had observed. This progress was further recognised when the local commissioners returned for another visit and were impressed with the significant improvements made.
In addition, the Care Inspectorate Wales (CIW) carried out an inspection and awarded silent ratings of excellent in three out of four areas. This is a fantastic achievement for the service and acknowledges the positive changes that the Manager and staff team implemented, with invaluable support from the Quality Team.
Registered Manager, Keys Children's ResidentialDuring a difficult time, the quality manager went above and beyond to support me to bring everything at the service up to standard and above. But she was also very supportive of me. She has continued to support me and made herself available whenever I’ve needed support or advice.
