Keys Group has launched an Inclusion Forum to help the organisation build a working environment and approach that further nurtures a more diverse workforce and inclusive culture where everyone is better equipped and supported to contribute to the delivery of Keys Group’s objectives.
This will help Keys be a more inclusive employer and better prepared to support children, young people, adults and colleagues from different backgrounds, including those with protected characteristics.
The Inclusion Forum consists of 13 colleagues representing a wide variety of roles and services from across Keys and Peak. In bi-monthly meetings, the forum reviews progress made and awareness raised in areas related to inclusion across Keys and Peak services in line with our strategic objectives. An Accomplish Inclusion Forum will soon be in place with a similar remit, running parallel to the Keys and Peak forum.
Keys Group CEO David Manson said: “Twelve months ago I set out my priorities for the organisation to have a more diverse workforce, for the Group to be a more inclusive place to be and for all my colleagues to be better equipped to support children and young people (and each other) from diverse backgrounds or with protected characteristics.
“This is something that does not happen overnight and will always be a journey rather than a destination but while there is still much on-going work to be done, we are making progress. We have introduced more equality and diversity training opportunities for colleagues and we have introduced the Rainbow Flag Award into our schools, which will help us all be more LGBTQIA+ aware. In June we held ‘Keys Pride Day’ with events held across the organisation to celebrate, educate and raise awareness about LGBTQIA+. In July the theme of our Emerging Leaders conference was inclusion and we welcomed presentations from some inspirational speakers focused on anti-racism and their own individual experiences.
“The Forum represents another step forward in our journey and I am excited about the plans that have already been discussed by my colleagues. I am also delighted this is an initiative that was developed and led by managers that proposed this approach as part of our Future Leadership Development Programme.
“I look forward to seeing the impact of the Forum across the organisation over the coming months.”
