Fran Gracie our Substance Misuse Operations Manager at Keys has introduced Alcohol Awareness week (#knowthesigns) to all our Keys Homes and Schools as part of the annual national campaign.
Fran stated “The statistics show that alcohol remains a leading risk factor for death amongst Men and Women aged 15-49 and is also costing the UK billions in health costs. Every hour a family loses a loved one to alcohol.
At the Keys Group we recognise the dangers and effects of alcohol, we ensure that all our homes and schools are equipped with sound knowledge, support and training to reduce the risks of alcohol and all substance use.
Our contribution to this campaign will be putting some displays in our homes and schools. Key working educational and harm reduction sessions are being carried out with our young people all week on the effects of alcohol.
Pictured below is home Manager Katie Brennan from one of our North West of England homes with a display in support of the know the signs campaign.
Katie stated “Our home is raising awareness of the dangers and risks of alcohol by doing targeted key working sessions with our young people and we are running a competition at the end of the week. Staff are fully on board with this and to keep the campaign live some staff will be doing Dry January in 2017”.
