Well, if Education Professionals in South Wales haven’t heard of Mynydd Haf School yet by the feedback we got at the Open Lunch earlier this week they soon will!
And what a lunch it was – wraps, salads, cold cuts, fruits, desserts, scones, a monster (and very filling)cheesecake and a homemade, 7 KG fruit cake iced beautifully with the Mynydd Haf School logo!
The senior team led by Kevin Jones (Head Teacher) and Sarah Raison (Deputy Head and cooking guru) assisted by the fantastic and positive teaching team put together a great event which crowned months of hard work in preparation of the School not just for successful Estyn Inspection (for which congratulations are overdue) but also for making the School such a welcoming place for visitors on the day.
Invited guests “dropped in” throughout the afternoon including key education staff from Cardiff, Caernarvon, RCT and Torfaen, Careers South Wales, local police officers and representatives from local colleges.
Without exception everyone we spoke to was impressed by the School facilities, location, the positivity of the team and most importantly the Schools potential to transform the educational outcomes for children with school engagement or learning issues in South Wales.
If the quality of the teams preparation for the day and their enthusiasm to make a real difference to childrens education is a sign of things to come then the future of Mynydd Haf School looks very rosy!
There was talk of a second event later in the year to capture those invitees who couldn’t make it on the day – if so consider me booked in already but please no more scones!
