We’re delighted to be welcoming back all of our schools after their summer break.
As we all know, the weeks and months before the end of the summer term were very different, and challenging for everyone within our school communities – staff, children and wider families.
While all of our schools stayed opened throughout lockdown and as it began to ease, our attendance levels were excellent compared to the national average and it was a great source of pride that we were able to support, not just those who did attend school, but also those who could not. We did this through virtual learning, providing learning and support packs which were delivered to young people at home by the school teams and through support calls, emails and welfare visits.
School may still feel different due to COVID-19, but we have put a range of measures in place to protect everyone’s well-being. Among these are the creation of “bubbles” for children so they can remain in school while being taught in smaller groups, taking staggered breaks, having hand sanitisers available throughout the buildings and supporting with hand hygiene. Phased starts and INSET days are in place so that teachers are as prepared as possible before the pupils return.
The robust procedures we have put in place to manage COVID-19 have been praised by OFSTED, when visiting our schools. The new situation and new routines may take a little getting used to, but it is wonderful to welcome everyone back into school. Here’s to a great term!
